Mobile Companion — Getting Started
This guide covers setting up the Companion for the first time. Before you start, confirm you have an active Computtite Cloud workspace. If your workspace is in local mode, you'll need to migrate it from Computtite Desktop before the Companion can connect.
1. Install the App
Download Computtite Mobile Companion from the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). The app is free.
2. Log In
Open the app and sign in with your Computtite account — the same email and password you use in Computtite Desktop. If you don't have an account yet, create one in the Desktop app or from the Companion's login screen.
3. Select Your Workspace
After logging in, the app detects your cloud workspaces automatically. If you only have one, it opens directly. If you have multiple, a workspace picker lets you choose.
If a workspace shows a warning about being in local mode, the app surfaces a step-by-step migration guide. You'll need to complete the migration to cloud mode in Computtite Desktop before that workspace is usable in the Companion.
4. Explore the Home Screen
The home screen shows your Quick Actions panel — up to four shortcuts you configure yourself — plus an unread alert badge and a preview of recent workspace activity.
The bottom navigation has four tabs:
- Home — Quick Actions, alert badge, recent activity
- Scanner — direct QR and barcode scanner
- Utilities — categorized hub for all app actions
- Settings — workspace info, members, preferences, account
5. Scan Your First Asset
Tap Scanner in the bottom nav (or the Scan shortcut in Quick Actions). Point your camera at a computtite:// QR code or a Code-128 barcode. The asset detail screen opens instantly with all fields, current assignment, and status.
If you don't have a printed code yet, generate one from Utilities → Identification → Generate QR. Select any asset, preview the QR code, and export it via your device's share sheet or save it to your photo library.
Customizing Quick Actions
Quick Actions are the shortcut tiles on your home screen. Go to Profile → Quick Actions to toggle which ones appear. You can have between 1 and 4 active at a time, chosen from: Scan, Search Assets, Search Employees, Generate QR, Alerts, Activity, Scan Bag.
Setting Your Theme
The Companion supports Light, Dark, and System themes. System follows your device's current appearance. Change it from Profile → Preferences → Theme.
