Mobile Companion — Features

This page describes every feature in Computtite Mobile Companion v1.0.0.

QR Code & Barcode Scanning

The scanner decodes two formats:

  • computtite:// QR codes — native codes generated by the Companion or Desktop; encode the asset UUID and open the exact asset record in one scan
  • Code-128 barcodes — standard linear barcodes containing a raw UUID; compatible with most commercial label printers

A manual UUID entry fallback is always available if scanning fails or you know the asset's ID. Tap Enter manually from the scanner screen.

Generate QR Codes

Go to Utilities → Identification → Generate QR, select any asset, and preview its QR code. Export the code as a PNG via your device's share sheet, or save it directly to your photo library. This lets you print labels from your phone without a computer.

Asset Browser

Browse your workspace's full asset list, filterable by status. Tap any asset to open its detail view, which shows all custom fields, current assignment, department, and status. From the detail view you can update the status or manage assignments directly.

Status Updates

From any asset detail or scan result, tap Update Status to change the asset's operational state. The change writes immediately to your cloud workspace — desktop operators see it in real time.

Assignment Management

Assign or unassign assets from the detail screen. Select an employee from your workspace directory, optionally add a department, and confirm. A full assignment record — with a timestamp — is written to the workspace history.

Scan Bag

The Scan Bag is a batch scanning workflow. Scan multiple assets into a virtual bag, then process all of them in a single action:

  • Assign — bulk assign all bag assets to a selected employee and/or department
  • Return — bulk unassign all currently assigned bag assets (unassigned assets are skipped; the count is reported)
  • Maintenance — bulk set all bag assets to maintenance status
  • Audit — compare the bag contents against an expected scope (see Physical Audits)

The bag is held in memory per session and resets when you close the app. Duplicate scans are silently ignored — each asset can only appear once.

Physical Audits

Physical audits verify real-world inventory against the workspace database.

  1. Build a Scan Bag by scanning every asset in a physical location.
  2. Open Scan Bag → Audit and choose a scope: all workspace assets, or a specific department.
  3. The app compares your scanned set against the expected set and shows three groups:
    • Matched — found in both the scan and the expected inventory
    • Missing — expected by the system but not found in your scan
    • Unexpected — scanned but not in the expected scope
  4. Completing an audit writes a permanent record to the workspace audit history.

Activity Center

A unified, chronological feed of recent workspace events — assignments, status changes, and completed audits — assembled from your cloud workspace in real time. Events are grouped by day (Today / Yesterday / Earlier) and support pull-to-refresh and pagination.

Access from Utilities → Analysis → Activity or the Activity Quick Action on your home screen.

Alert Center

Workspace alerts surface conditions that need attention — license expirations, maintenance backlogs, and other signals your workspace generates. Each alert category can be independently toggled in Profile → Notification Preferences. An unread badge appears on the home screen Quick Actions panel.

Employee Browser & Search

Search your workspace employee directory by name. Tap any employee to view their profile, role, department, and current asset assignments.

Quick Actions

Quick Actions are the personalized shortcut tiles on your home screen. Configure between 1 and 4 from the available set: Scan, Search Assets, Search Employees, Generate QR, Alerts, Activity, Scan Bag. Configure from Profile → Quick Actions.

Utilities Hub

The Utilities tab is a categorized index of every action in the app, organized by what you're trying to do:

  • Identification — Scan QR, Generate QR (active); Scan Barcode, Generate Barcode (coming soon)
  • Inventory — Search Assets, Assignments, Scan Bag
  • People — Search Employees
  • Awareness — Alerts
  • Analysis — Activity (Reports coming soon)

Themes

Light, Dark, and System themes. System follows your device's appearance setting. Configure from Profile → Preferences → Theme.
