Storage & Backups
Computtite gives you direct control over your workspace data. This section covers where data is stored, how automatic backups work, and how to restore from a backup.
Where Your Workspace Lives
Each workspace is stored as a single file on your machine. To open the containing folder in your file manager, go to Settings → Cloud & Storage → Show in file manager.
Automatic Scheduled Backups
Computtite can back up your workspace automatically on a schedule. Go to Settings → Cloud & Storage → Backup & Recovery to configure it:
- Schedule: Choose disabled, daily, or weekly. Backups run on the next app launch after the scheduled window passes.
- Retention: Keep the most recent 5, 10, or 20 backups. Older ones are pruned automatically.
Every backup is verified for integrity before it is saved. If a backup file is found to be corrupted, it is discarded automatically — you will never restore from a broken file.
Manual Backups
To create a backup on demand, click Back Up Now in Settings → Cloud & Storage → Backup & Recovery. You can also export your workspace to any location via Export database.
Restoring from a Backup
In the Backup & Recovery panel, you'll see a timestamped list of available backups. Click Restore on any entry to bring it back. Before the restore begins, Computtite creates a safety snapshot of your current workspace — so if the restore fails or you change your mind, you can recover manually from the backup folder.
You can also restore by importing any exported file from Import database. Either way, Computtite shows a confirmation before overwriting anything.
Corruption Recovery
On every startup, Computtite checks the health of your workspace. If it detects damage (from a power outage, disk error, or interrupted write), a full-screen recovery dialog appears before the app opens. It lists your available automatic backups so you can restore with one click, or open the backup folder to recover manually.
