Google Sheets Integration
The Google integration lets you push Computtite reports directly to Google Sheets in your Google Drive, creating a live, shareable spreadsheet from your asset inventory data. This is a cloud mode feature that requires a Computtite account and an active Google account.
How the Connection Works
Computtite connects to Google using a secure authorization flow — the same approach used by major desktop applications. The process never asks for your Google password:
- Click Connect Google Account in Settings → Integrations.
- Your browser opens Google's authorization page.
- You review the permissions and approve the connection in your browser.
- Google redirects back to Computtite. The connection is complete.
Your credentials are stored securely — the client secret never touches your device, and tokens are kept encrypted.
Required Google Permissions
Computtite requests the minimum scopes necessary:
- spreadsheets: Create and write to Google Sheets in your Drive.
- drive.file: Upload files created by Computtite to Google Drive. This scope is limited to files that Computtite itself creates — it cannot read or modify other files in your Drive.
- userinfo.email: Read your email address to identify the connected account in the Computtite UI.
Computtite cannot access, read, or modify any existing files in your Drive that were not created by Computtite.
Exporting a Report to Google Sheets
Once connected, you can export any Computtite report to Google Sheets from the Reports section:
- Navigate to Reports in the sidebar.
- Select the report type and apply any filters you want (date range, department, asset type, etc.).
- Click Export → Google Sheets.
- Choose whether to create a new spreadsheet or append to an existing one. If creating new, you can optionally specify a Drive folder to save it in.
- Confirm. Computtite creates the spreadsheet, writes the data with a frozen header row and auto-sized columns, and shows you the link to open it in your browser.
The export creates a proper Google Sheets file (not just a CSV upload), so all the native Sheets features — filtering, pivot tables, charts, conditional formatting — work on the exported data immediately.
Available Export Operations
- Create new spreadsheet: Creates a new Google Sheets file with the report data.
- Append to existing spreadsheet: Adds new rows to an existing sheet in a spreadsheet you select from your Drive. Useful for accumulating report runs over time.
- Export to Drive as Sheet: Saves the file to a specific Drive folder — useful for organized Drive structures.
- List your existing spreadsheets: Computtite can list spreadsheets already in your Drive so you can select a target for append operations.
Staying Connected
Computtite automatically keeps the connection alive in the background. You will not be asked to reconnect unless you explicitly revoke access from your Google Account settings or disconnect the integration from Computtite.
Disconnecting
Go to Settings → Integrations → Google and click Disconnect. This removes the stored tokens from the local store and Vault. It does not revoke access at Google's side — to do that, visit myaccount.google.com/permissions and remove Computtite.
